Twin City is partnering with Vuno Developments to create the first enclosed shopping mall in the northwestern agricultural town of Vryburg.
Dubbed Twin City Vryburg, the R290 million development spans 20,000m² and is anticipated to change the retail landscape in the town, adding around 70 stores, restaurants and service outlets.
Twin City Chief Operating Officer Ryno de Leeuw (pictured), said: “Twin City Vryburg is an exciting Greenfields development and is the group’s second foray into the North West province, with Rustenburg Mall set to open in 2020 – a project done in partnership with the Moolman Group. It will bring a modern, one-stop shopping destination to the people of Vryburg and surrounding communities.”
Although Vryburg is a hub for agricultural and industrial services with national highways intersecting the town, it’s retail offerings are currently quite disconnected from each other.
Twin City is a leading South African developer who specialises in Pretoria-based shopping centre constructions boasting over 35 years of experience; the firm also operates ten shopping centres with more than 250,000m² of gross leasable area.
The Twin City Vryburg is the latest addition to the company’s portfolio as they broaden their horizon, repeatedly looking into the different regions they can venture into.
The area of Vryburg has more than 14,500 households with just over 23,000 homes in secondary catchment areas.
Twin City’s COO says the project is still in the planning stages with the mall expected to open in the last quarter of 2021.
