Popular Glasgow Shopping Centre Fully Let

A neighbourhood shopping centre in Glasgow is now fully let for the first time in three years after a flurry of new tenants.

The commercial property and investment company London Cambridge Properties (LCP) has signed new leases with three businesses in just six weeks at Knightswood Shopping Centre, in Knightswood, Glasgow.

Bedding and homeware retailer Beds West End Limited are one of the new tenants and have acquired a 4,875 sq ft shop after agreeing to a five-year lease.

Commenting on the deal, Beds West Managing Director, Reg Bright, said: “We have had a fantastic start and customer throughput has been excellent. The centre has a large catchment and attracts a wide variety of customers.”

The second business heading to Knightswood is Tubbees, a locally-owned family business that sells slush drinks, desserts and confectionery. The food retailer has agreed on a 10-year lease of a 2,400 sq ft store as it pursues ambitious growth plans across west-central Scotland.

The final new tenant at the centre is pawnbroker Pisces Gold which has signed a five-year lease for a 1,070 sq ft unit.

In a press release this morning, LCP’s Head of Scotland, Roddy Proudfoot, said: “Achieving full occupancy after a challenging 15 months for retailers demonstrates the value of local convenience parades.”

Roddy adds: “We are committed to investing in our local retail centres to ensure that we attract tenants that add real value and broaden the appeal of the centre to the local shoppers who use them,

“The enduring appeal of Knightswood – and convenience retail in general – is that we have a great range of services on offer which are easily accessible. These lettings further strengthen the local offer in Knightswood, and we are delighted to welcome these new occupiers.”

Knightswood Shopping Centre is owned by LCP Securities Limited, one of the LCP Group of companies.

The shopping centre is comprised of 23 stores, including nationally-known high street names such as Iceland, Farmfoods and Lloyds Pharmacy, plus locally-owned opticians, dentists, doctors and more.
