A national bedroom furniture retailer has just signed a lease at a retail park in Warrington.
The established mattress and bedroom furniture retailer, Bedworld – which have 18 stores across the UK, is the latest brand to join The Derwent Group-owned ‘JunctionNINE’ Retail Park.
JunctionNINE, which has a total of 200,000 sq ft of retail space, is home to several national retailers and brands, including the likes of Currys PC World, Pets at Home, Smyth’s Toys, Nando’s and more.
Retailer Bedworld signed a five-year lease and will occupy the 2,265 sq ft unit nine, which was formerly occupied by Carphone Warehouse.
Bedworld’s new store is expected to open in the first half of next year.
Commenting on the move, James Maule-Ffinch, Asset Manager at The Derwent Group, said: “With one of the longest retail park frontages in the UK, JunctionNINE enjoys a very prominent location, and this has been a major draw for the wide variety of homeware and furnishing retailers at the park.
“Bedworld will make a great addition to an already strong line-up, and we welcome them to our tenant portfolio for the first time.”
The Derwent Group has also recently secured full planning consent for 40,000 sq ft of industrial space at another one of their other retail parks.
Located northeast of the popular Anlaby Retail Park, the new industrial scheme will be split into a number of individual units for B2 (General Industrial) and B8 (Storage or distribution) use. Units will range in size from 1,500 sq. ft to 10,000 sq. ft.
In a statement shared with Commercial People yesterday, The Derwent Group announced that they expect to start work on the Hull site in mid-2022, aiming for practical completion in early the following year.
Andrew Day, Senior Asset Manager at The Derwent Group, which owns the Anlaby Retail Park site, said: “We’re delighted that we can now push forward with this scheme and bring flexible and modern industrial accommodation to the local market.
“Our vision for this site is in keeping with The Derwent Group’s wider commitment to expand our industrial portfolio with high-quality space in strategic locations where there is already strong amenity and good road connectivity.
“We’re currently in the process of procuring a contractor and expect work to start on site in the spring.”
Meanwhile, David Garness, Director at Garness Jones, acting agent for the scheme, said: “This is tremendous news and we expect to see high demand for the scheme. It’s been designed to reflect local market demand with a number of smaller units available, plus it has the benefits of easy access to the retail park, city and motorway network.”
