Multi-Million Rand Midwater Centre Expansion a Resounding Success

Promising more family fun, more good food and more shopping and convenience than ever before, the multi-million rand expansion of Midwater Centre in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, has proven a hit with the local community.

The 8000m² expansion was opened to the public on the 28th March 2019, bringing the total size of the shopping centre to 19000m² in size, and significantly increasing its retail offerings.

Gavin Tagg, CEO of leading property leasing and development specialists, Retail Network Services (RNS) said: “At the heart of the expansion is a new open-air area with trees, a fountain and a kiddies play zone surrounded by restaurants, takeaway outlets and a cobbled-stoned street. It all comes together to provide the local community with a fun family-focused hub at Midwater Centre.”

The experienced developers, RNS have a trusted track record of delivering many shopping centres across South Africa; and were brought in to advise on the expansion and leasing of the centre by the shopping malls Middleburg-based property development owners Patricio and Sons.

Anchoring the expansion is a new 2,200m² Pick n Pay; a top-notch 2,000m² Planet Fitness Blue Gym; popular family restaurants like Spur, Piatto and Ocean Basket; and, new brands to the area like West Pack Lifestyle and the Daily Coffee Café.”

The centre’s expansion has seen the premises retail and service offerings increasing to more than 50 stores and outlets.

Major national brands at the centre include Superspar, Wimpy, Domino’s Pizza, Clicks, and Pick n Pay.
