MCS Group Appoints Experienced BDM to Meet Growth Target

The ambitious Midlands-based contractor, MCS Group, has appointed a new Business Development Manager (BDM) to target significant growth in new sectors.

Joining the firm from Willmott Dixon where he served as a Bid Manager, the new BDM Richard Sapcote, will seek to secure fast-track projects ranging from £50,000 to £15 million.

Commenting on his appointment, Richard said: Joining MCS Group at this point in its development is a very exciting opportunity. This is a new role for the business, which traditionally operates largely in the automotive and industrial sector across the UK, currently turning over £140m.

“My target is to secure opportunities in new sectors which align to the skills of the highly motivated team here. This strategic marketing approach matches my career, which has, over the last 20 years, been in a client-facing role.”

Richard boasts extensive experience in the construction industry, having previously served as the Business Unit Manager at Seddon Construction, and as Heritage Specliast and later Head of Business Generation at Shaylor Group, prior to his 1.5 years at Willmott Dixon.

Richard’s name is also familiar in the construction sector from his time managing Birmingham-based family regional contractor William Sapcote & Sons Ltd, where he hired over 40 skilled employees.

MCS Group Managing Director Keir Edmonds said: “Richard is very well known in the construction sector and has had an impressive career in a range of very senior roles over the years.

“I’m delighted to welcome him to the team. He brings his experience and industry knowledge to a new role in which he will target growth in sectors we have identified as being key for the further growth of MCS Group.”

MCS is on track to complete the construction of their new £2.5m headquarters in Haywood Road in the coming
