John Pye Auctions Celebrate £50m in Sales with 1,000 Auctions Held

The award-winning John Pye Auctions have completed its 1,000th auction as it celebrates generating £50 million in sales fro the West-Midlands based auction site.

Headquartered in Marchington, Staffordshire, the auction company runs from an 11-acre site, with a total of 11 indoor salesrooms across 180,000 sq ft; launched in August 2012, they have successfully sold 1.5 million lots.

Employing 110 full-time staff at the head office, the auctioneer will celebrate their 1,000th auction today.

The family-owned John Pye Auctions works for more than 80% of UK retailers who are looking to clear surplus stock – this includes failed deliveries, damaged packaging, seasonal end of lines, the customer returned goods or insurance write-offs.

The company has added a new division to the company called ‘John Pye Technical’ who will now take on refurbished tech items which include items complete with parts and labour warranties.

Adam Pye, Managing Director of John Pye Auctions, said: “Our Marchington site has been incredibly popular since opening, and it’s a huge achievement to reach the 1000th sale milestone.

“With our recent international launch in Dubai, the opening of our second largest auction facility in Chesterfield and the expansion of our Nottingham HQ with two new salerooms – we are already celebrating a fantastic first quarter this year, and we have no plans to slow down – the future is exciting.”
Last year in December the company expanded its online auction to UAE. They also opened a new office in Birmingham with a second office facility located in Chesterfield and expansion of the Nottingham headquarter.

Operations Director, Steve Anderson

Steve Anderson, Operations Director at John Pye Auctions and Head of the Marchington site, said: “I have been working at John Pye for 13 years now, having started as an auction porter before later being promoted to associate director and head of national retail facilities for the company.

“My current position as head of the Marchington site, is a role that I have held since the site opened back in 2012, I am proud to have overseen operations and been part of the site’s successful growth over the last seven years – it’s a pleasure to be celebrating the 1,000th sale with our hardworking and conscientious team.”
