CBRE Hires Pearson PLC’s Head of Global Property

Global real estate advisor, CBRE has today announced the appointment of a new Executive Director in its Corporate Capital Markets team.

Joining from British multinational publishing and education company, Pearson, new director Ben Almond will start his new role in January as a member of the team which is a part of CBRE’S Capital Advisors division.

Commenting on Ben’s appointment, Colin Elliot, Head of Corporate Capital Markets, CBRE said: “We are delighted that Ben is joining us as we look to expand and develop our capabilities within Corporate Capital Markets. Ben brings with him a wealth of experience in both transactions and consultancy which will be invaluable in driving revenue growth and expanding our repertoire and client base. We always strive to give our clients a significant competitive advantage by delivering the best expertise and market intelligence, which the appointment of Ben will allow us to do.”

Ben (pictured right) is currently the Senior Vice President & Global Head of Property at Pearson and brings a wealth of corporate occupier experience to the role from over 16 years leading the real estate and workplace strategies of various global companies.

As both a qualified Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Surveyor in Corporate Real Estate, Ben’s time at Pearson saw him managing the organisation’s real estate portfolio across six continents and leading their global workplace transformation programme for the last five years.

Speaking of joining CBRE, Ben added: “The importance of executing carefully considered and well-managed real estate transformation programmes has never been higher on the priority list of CEOs and CFOs. These unprecedented times have seen a reduction in the utilisation of corporate real estate portfolios, leading many companies to question the purpose of their real estate, the design of their workplaces and the effectiveness of their short and long-term investment, disposition and ownership strategies. I am honoured and excited by this opportunity to join the market-leading Corporate Capital Markets team at CBRE, and to use my experience to further develop the provision of specific and holistic capital markets solutions to support the rapidly changing real estate and workplace needs of our corporate occupier clients.”

At CBRE, Ben will assume a newly created role, responsible for broadening the range of services offered to clients within Corporate Capital Markets and increasing the team’s operations across EMEA.

In a press release, CBRE said that Ben would be advising on the corporate real estate strategies of CBRE’s occupier clients, working closely with the A&T Occupier business, to help them develop long and short-term capital solutions amid ongoing disruption.
