Speciality coffee roaster 200 Degrees has officially opened its new 72-seater coffee shop in Liverpool’s Metquarter centre today.
As revealed last month, the company’s highly trained barista team will be serving freshly roasted coffee from the 200 Degrees roast house in Nottingham, as well as bringing 20 new jobs to the city of Liverpool.
Tom Vincent, co-founder and director at 200 Degrees, said: “The 200 Degrees team have worked very hard to make this day happen and we are delighted to open our doors in the go-to retail destination that is Liverpool’s Metquarter.
“The city has an incredible food and drink scene which we can’t wait to be a part of and in our prime position on the ground floor of the centre, we relish the chance to serve people shopping, working in neighbouring businesses or anyone seeking out a relaxing space to enjoy our hand roasted coffee, freshly prepared food and perhaps one or two of our sweet treats.
“As with all of our coffee shops, we’ve worked very hard to give the Liverpool store a unique, welcoming atmosphere with our signature ‘Hand Made in England’ copper wall, comfy interior, and outdoor café seating area – where customers can enjoy the warmer months.”
200 Degrees, which was set up by Tom and his business partner Rob Darby in 2012, has distinctive coffee shops in Nottingham, Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield, Leicester, Cardiff and Lincoln, as well as their roast house in Nottingham.
The company has further plans to grow, with its second Birmingham coffee shop opening in August, as well two more shop openings planned for later this year.
The 2,000 sq ft Liverpool coffee shop includes unique features such as a cosy sunken seating area, bespoke artwork and outdoor cafe seating.
Bill Addy, chief executive of Liverpool BID Company, said: “It is fantastic to see such an exciting company coming to the city as we proudly champion businesses across Liverpool. Driving investment to the local area remains a priority for the BID over the coming years, and we’re confident 200 Degrees will see success in the city.”
The new Liverpool coffee shop is the ninth 200 degrees shop in the UK and is located at Unit 1, 35 Whitechapel. Opening hours will be 7:30 am – 8 pm Monday to Friday, 8 am – 7 pm on Saturdays and 9:30 am – 6 pm on Sundays.
Jennina O’Neill, Metquarter centre manager, said: “We love the ethos and traditional methods of 200 Degrees and believe this fits perfectly with Metquarter. We’re thrilled to welcome the company to the centre and hope our customers enjoy delicious coffee, fresh food and the relaxing atmosphere just as much as we do.”
